The Red Devils' women's football side has completed a high-profile addition by acquiring German national team striker Lea Schuller who joins from Bayern Munich.

The experienced forward, who has signed a contract running until June 2029, is the club's second new arrival of the winter transfer period, following the arrival of full-back Hanna Lundkvist.

An Accomplished Goalscorer

Schuller spent a five-year spell at Bayern Munich, making over 100 appearances and playing a key role in them secure four Bundesliga championships.

For her country, her record is similarly formidable, having scored 54 goals in 82 caps for Germany.

"From the first conversations I held with manager Marc Skinner and the club, the goals of everyone involved were extremely evident," stated Schuller.

She was part of the squad that finished as runners-up to England at Euro 2022 and also claimed a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Perfect Fit

"I still have so much that I aim to achieve in my career, and I know that this club is the ideal environment for me," Schuller continued.

"I feel that the way the team plays of football will be a great fit for my style of play. I am confident my attributes and experience can help us to achieve our aims both in England and in the Champions League."

The club's director of women's football, Man Utd's head of women's football, said: "Lea's goal-scoring record is phenomenal, her playing style will give our forward line an exciting new edge.

"Her champion's mindset and pedigree will really help our ambitious and youthful team as we keep developing together and compete across both domestic and continental competitions."

Building for Europe

The club hope to be active in the transfer window as manager Marc Skinner seeks to strengthen his squad for the latter stages of the top European competition.

They have already agreed a contract extension with important playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has agreed through to the summer of 2029.
